Our CAREGivers do so much more than is expected.

All our CAREGivers are chosen because they are the kinds of people who have a genuine passion for helping others.   This is the main reason that our care has been rated by the Care Quality Commission as ‘outstanding’.

The role of a Home Instead CAREGiver is to ensure that the clients they support are cared for according to the care plan which has been put in place.  Care plans reflect an individual’s needs at a particular point in time but, of course, those needs normally change as time goes on.   Feedback from our CAREGivers often helps to highlight those changes and allows us to respond accordingly.  The ultimate goal is for clients to live as happily, safely, independently and healthily as possible in their own homes.

The care plan is one element of the care that we provide but CAREGivers often go out of their way to do a bit more for clients.  Once they get to know a client, the carer often recognises that there are simple things they could do which would make all the difference to the life of that person.  CAREGiver Natalie is one example of this.  She knew that one of the local ladies that she provided support for loved animals so she asked the office whether she could take her little dog, Minnie, to see the client.  After appropriate paperwork was completed, Natalie was able to take Minnie and introduce her to her client.  You can see just how happy the lady is to have a visit from little Minnie!  It really brightened her day.

Another recent example of outstanding care was from CAREGivers Jo and Andrea who, knowing their female client loves flowers but is unable to do the gardening any longer, decided they would plant up some colourful flowers and put them on the patio so that she could enjoy them.   Just being able to look outside and see the pots with their lovely floral arrangements growing makes this client very happy.

Caring for people isn’t just about ticking boxes.  For us, it’s about really getting to know our clients and what makes life better for them.
