Are You Eligible for Attendance Allowance?
Have you heard of Attendance Allowance? It’s a payment by the government for those of us who are state pension age or over, have a mental or physical disability, and may find daily tasks challenging. This could include general mobility, preparing food or washing yourself, with the intention being that the payment is used to subsidise the cost of any professional home care you receive or may receive in the future. You do not need to be receiving care currently to be eligible. If you’re in a care home and your care is paid for by your local authority, you usually won’t be eligible. However, if you pay for all your care home costs yourself you can still claim.

Fundraising Event
Our office will be getting fit and having fun week commencing 7th December to raise money for a very worthwhile charity, Bring Joy, a charitable trust set up by Home Instead. Staff will be cycling 50 miles each day for five days to provide funds towards Memory Lane Farnborough, a social club supporting older people, including those with dementia. Clubs such as this become even more important during times like these, where the requirement to self-isolate can create feelings of loneliness and social isolation. Although our CAREGivers do a fantastic job supporting people, it is not the same as getting out and meeting others in a social environment. Although we have had to suspend the club during the Coronavirus pandemic, we are hopeful that we can re-open it in 2021, again in the Masonic Lodge, a large, spacious environment. Clubs such as this bring so much joy to old people in our community. If you are able to donate, please go to Thyg.uk/CUS025572
