Winter is officially over, which means it’s time to put away the wellingtons away and bring out the sandals. With the change in seasons and the weather improving, brings the opportunity for some outdoor activities and a good old spring clean!
Outdoor activities such as gardening and walking is an enjoyable way to spend time with your loved one, and it is also beneficial as it gets them out the house into the fresh air and in turn can improve their mood. But one thing to remember is that injury can very easily occur so taking a couple of minutes beforehand to stretch will greatly reduce the risk.
Springtime is the perfect time to get rid of the clutter and check the home is safe. Clutter can be a hazard as it increases the risk of falls. By removing any objects or furniture that could cause an obstacle will make getting around a lot easier for your loved one. Also this time of year is perfect to go through all your loved one’s safety equipment such as smoke detectors and any fire extinguishers to make sure they are in working order and are easily accessible if needed.
The lovely weather should inspire you and your loved ones to get active and keep your body moving!
