Sawbridgeworth at-home care provider Home Instead has been shortlisted as a finalist for the ‘Internal Trainer of the Year’ award as part of the Hertfordshire Care Awards.
David Bassett, who works as the business manager for Home Instead in Sawbridgeworth, is an experienced caregiver who has worked with elderly, disabled and mentally ill people for sixteen years. He is in charge of training and managing the caregivers working for Home Instead. The award criteria specifies a passion for teaching, charisma and interactivity in training sessions and making a real difference to the behaviour of care providers in the workplace.
David had an interview with five care industry experts, followed by a video interview, in which he was asked about his experiences giving an exemplary standard of care and training others to do the same. He is one of three finalists nominated for the award, the winner of which will be announced on 30th November at an event at Knebworth House.
David said: “I was quite nervous and I found it hard to talk about myself as it’s something that I don’t usually do! It’s a long wait until November when the results are announced but I’m really honoured to be nominated and it’s been a great experience.”
