Sue Asken - Care Co-ordinator

Sue Asken - Care Co-ordinator

Hi, I'm Sue, Care Co-ordinator at Home Instead in Durham.

I meet clients and their families to carry out quality assurance visits. I also do spot checks, introductions and supervisions and support our team of CAREGivers.

I have a genuine desire to care and support older people, gaining their trust and making life a little bit easier for those who need it and bringing companionship and warmth to the relationship. I'm really excited to be part of the management team at Home Instead, making a difference to the quality of life for our clients.

Before joining Home Instead I worked as a pre-school manager and before that I served 8 years in the army as a physical training instructor.

When I'm not at work I enjoy keeping fit, including running, dancing and fitness classes. I like reading and playing board games, as well as going to the theatre and cinema.

My dog, Jordie, keeps me busy, out and about in all weathers. I also enjoy meeting people and getting to know them.

This is Geordie, she spends a lot of time in the office, meeting and greeting visitors and CAREGivers with lots of fuss and cuddles.

Geordie lives with Sue, our Senior Care Coordinator.

She also visits some of our lovely ladies and gentlemen, either to give lots of licks and love to, or to encourage them to go for a short walk with her.

This is Geordie demonstrating how our CAREGivers should perform basic life support.

Trudi Jameson

Trudi Jameson

Hello, I’m Trudi, Owner and Director of the Durham office.

A lot of my time is spent out and about in the local community raising the profile of Home Instead and the services that we can provide.

I have worked within the health and social care field for 25 years, providing support and care to adults. I am pleased to be in a position, as a business owner to be able to ensure that the care we provide is only that of the highest quality and that it is delivered with care and compassion by the CAREGivers we employ.

The peace of mind families get knowing their loved ones are supported by a reliable and trustworthy CAREGiver is enormous and the benefit to the Client is being able to remain living in their home and maintaining their independence for as long as possible, while building a friendly relationship with their CAREGiver

I have had personal experience of home care with my mother, even with knowing the care sector as well as I do, I struggled to find her quality, reliable and flexible care, which led to many frustrations for both of us.

I want to provide the type of care that I just couldn’t find for my mum, the way care should be provided but sadly, very often isn’t.

I have a fantastic Care Manager working alongside me, we have worked together for 9 years and we  have complementary skills and are thrilled to be working together to make a difference for people living in our local area. I trust her implicitly and I know she believes fully in my mission to provide the right care, at the right time, in the right way.

Annette Connor

Annette Connor

Hello, I’m Annette Connor and I am the registered Care Manager.

I look after the operational side of the business, which includes meeting Clients and their families. At Home Instead we don’t tell Client’s what they need; we take the time to find out what is required and what is important to the individual, once I know what that is, I then write bespoke care plans, tailored specifically to the individual.

I manage the day to day running of the office and ensure we comply with the Care Quality Commission standards.

I have worked in the care industry for all my career, running and managing residential homes and supported living services.

I was delighted when Trudi asked me to be her Care Manager and I’m proud to work for a company where the person who needs the support is at the centre of the decisions and directs their own care.

We are both passionate about what we are doing and I really feel like I have a new lease of life, we are just so positive this is what we want to do. Everyone deserves good care and we will only provide a service that we would want for our own family

Our CAREGivers

Our CAREGivers

Our CAREGivers are our biggest asset.

They are passionate and compassionate, highly skilled and fully trained. They undergo a thorough and rigorous vetting procedure, including 2 interviews, 6 references and an enhanced CRB check.

Our CAREGivers come from a wide background with varying life experiences but all have empathy and are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care and to making a difference to the quality of life of our Clients.

Our CAREGivers arrive on time, every time and stay the whole duration of the booked visit.

Hello, I'm Archie, part time office dog and late evening security guard. I'm very easy going and a laid back sort of chap, many tell me how handsome I am, I'm sure you'll agree with them.

My fur may say German Shepherd Dog but I'm just a cuddly teddy bear underneath. I'm looking forward to passing my 'Pets As Therapy' exam and meeting some of our lovely Clients.
