My parents always insisted that they wanted to remain in their own home, so we were very lucky to have found Home Instead. When Dad died, it was obvious that Mum needed 24-hr care, so she now has live-in care. Management and office staff have been so kind and helpful to me, and excellent with organising appropriate care for my parents' changing needs, often at very short notice.
Mum needs help with all aspects of her life. The care givers know Mum's taste in food and ensure she has fresh fruit, vegetables and meat/fish, as well as her favourite desserts and snacks. Mum has a very good appetite and enjoys her meals. The care givers have built lovely relationships with Mum and she acknowledges that by saying, "They spoil me and treat me like the Queen!".
I phone Mum every afternoon and the carers update me with how she has been that day and we discuss any requirements or upcoming appointments. To me, the care givers feel like friends and family.
