Julie Price - Owner & Care Manager
Hi my name is Julie and my background is in planning and training and I have worked for a number of blue-chip companies before opening the Colchester branch of Home Instead Senior Care. I began looking for a change of direction and following my own personal experiences I decided that I wanted to establish myself in the care sector.
For several years I cared for my elderly mother and during that time I became acutely aware of the problems faced by the elderly and their families. I quickly came to believe that dignity for the elderly is intrinsically linked to them being able to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible. Opening the Colchester branch of Home Instead Senior Care has given me the opportunity to run my own business whilst providing a quality service that I passionately believe in. In the past, I spent many years as a Voluntary Youth & Community Worker and helped numerous young people from all backgrounds achieve a Duke of Edinburgh Award. Originally from Deal in Kent, I now live in the lovely village of Dedham with my partner Brian. I enjoy walking, reading, listening to music and have a long-standing interest in the arts.
Diane Sharpe - Field Support
I joined Home Instead Senior Care Colchester in July 2015, and was initially attracted to Home Instead Senior Care due to the personal approach and time allowed to spend with each Client.
I have worked within the care sector for about 25 years, firstly working in a Nursing and Residential home looking after the elderly Frail including Dementia and Alzheimer patients, also having some experience of working with people with Huntingdon’s Disease.
For the last 13 Years I Have worked for Essex Cares which was formally Essex County Council, within this time I have had the opportunity to achieve a great deal of experience working with people from all walks of life, aged from 18 Years onwards, all with different care needs, this can range from support to regain confidence following a stay in hospital, or support with personal, emotional or Physical needs.
I have attended and achieved Various Training including:
NVQ 111 in Promoting Independence and Health and Social Care
Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Basic Life Support, SOVA, Mental Capacity Act, Infection Control, Medication and Related tasks to name but a few.
Within this role I assessed and implemented the care requirements and this would be documented within the individual care plans for Carers to follow, this included Moving and Handling, Environmental and Medication Risk Assessments. Assessing for any equipment that may be of support to the individual.
I have also been a Trainer to Care staff for Moving and Handling and also Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (SOVA).
My role in Home Instead Senior care is to support all the Caregivers working in the community, I also conduct Spot-Checks, Direct Observations and do regular visits to the clients to ensure the service we deliver is what we would all want for ourselves or our loved ones.
I attended the Train the Trainer in Medication in December 2015, and this Training is being cascaded to all Caregivers.
In my spare time I look after my grandchildren. At the weekends, my husband and I enjoy socialising with our friends and family. We are also partial to a cruise or 2!!!!!!
Samantha Lydford - Care Coordinator
Hi, my name is Sam. I have been in Health And Social Care for seven years. I started out caring for an elderly couple in their home for three years until they passed away in 2012. I joined Home Instead in 2013 as a Caregiver until taking the position of Care Coordinator in 2015. I enjoy doing the schedules, working under pressure and solving problems. My job also sees me in the field, carrying out Introductions with Caregivers and Clients, Quality Assurance Checks and also the odd bit of Care.
In my spare time I like to cycle, enjoy socialising and spending time with my Granddaughter.
I was inspired to work for Home Instead after visiting an elderly neighbour. I enjoy her company so much I thought, I could do this for a living. I have only been working for Home Instead for a month but I am really enjoying it.
