Being a CAREGiver
We would like to wish our CAREGiver Elaine a wonderful, fun filled retirement ! Elaine has been a fabulous CAREGiver for Home Instead Care in Colchester for over 2 & 1/2 years, and she will be missed by us all . Best wishes Elaine !
When it became apparent that my parents needed additional care to stay in their home, I had no idea who I should engage. During a chance conversation with a health care professional it was suggested I should speak to Home Instead. This has proven to be one of the best pieces of free advice I have ever had. Sadly my Dad passed away before the visits commenced, but the ladies have done so much to help my Mum, who has dementia, cope with her loss, providing stimulation through doing crosswords and ensuring she has plenty to eat and her clothes are changed regularly. Mum very much looks forward to the visits and has had some lovely trips out with the carers to garden centres and to the area of Colchester where she was brought up.
A regular family visitor frequently says that my Mum’s carers are the best she has seen by a long way and a plumber working at my Mum’s home at the time of Home Instead visit, was so impressed at how stimulated my Mum was by the carer, he contacted me to ask who they were and described the lady as “amazing”.
Peace of mind is so important and I feel totally at ease at work knowing that the carers will not fail to visit Mum, will be there for the full hour doing all they can for her and will let me know promptly if there are any issues. Mum has suffered a couple of falls in the home when alone and the carer on each occasion who has found her, has stayed with her not just until I and the paramedics have arrived, but right up until my Mum was on her way to hospital. That is real care and dedication.
A huge “Thank You” Julie from me and my brother for everything you, Paula and your fantastic team of carers have done for Mum.
