How you say Goodbye matters

Lilies to remember
Lilies to remember

This afternoon our Director and two CAREGivers attended the funeral of a former client at Weeley Crematorium. We feel privileged to be invited to our client's funerals and hope it shows the family how much we cared and respected their loved one. Speaking on a positive note, funerals are now much more about celebrating and remembering a person’s life. The funeral service cards now have photos on them showing the person in happier times or even giving a snapshot of them from youth to marriage to old age. The families are encouraged to speak about their relative and share stories and the music that is played is so varied and inspiring.

We find that, as well as being a fitting goodbye, the funerals of today help those of us still here go away with increased respect for the amazing life most of us lead albeit troubling at times. A friend of the Director's father died recently and he had a pre-paid funeral. Her father said it was amazing how smoothly it all went and what stress it took of everyone to have the plan and know it was done as their friend would have liked. The Directors father now has it in mind to organise his! At Home Instead, of course our focus is on the living but we want the families of our former clients to know how you say goodbye matters and we appreciate if we can be part of that too.
