Last week, on Tuesday  Jean Allen, the Owner, ran the first of two workshops on Alzheimers for people from the parish church Frinton (St Marys) There were 20 participants who all said it was a FANTASTIC workshop. Of course, this was true as Jean was teaching and she cares fiercely about this subject!!! Jean had the assistance of a former CAREGiver, Susan,  who wanted to be there because she believes in what the workshop has to offer. Participants said it was very helpful, informative and enjoyable and many shared personal stories. Two people came along from the Alzheimer Society to talk about their work, one was an Alzheimers Society employee and one a volunteer, a man whose wife had Alzheimers. They gave information about the fantastic support the Alzheimer Society gives to both those affected and their carers. At the workshop , Jean  laid out an impressive table of good resource material for people to take away with them. This workshop was free of charge and is part of the Home Instead outreach work to their community. In the workshop people learn about dementia, how it is diagnosed, how it affects someone and some caring and simple techniques to use when caring for someone with dementia so they retain their dignity
