Dementia Cafe celebrates the Queen's Jubilee

The Dementia Cafe, a joint offering by Home Instead and The Frinton Free Church, helped more than 50 carers and 'cared for' celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Tuesday (24th May 22).

Sally, the Pastor, volunteers and Home Instead staff helped decorate the hall with Union Jack bunting and napkins, there was old time music playing, Jubilee themed games and one of the lovely church members made Jubilee cupcakes for all to enjoy.

The well supported, twice monthly, Dementia Cafe sessions are a place for those living with dementia, cared for or carer, to come together, feel valued and supported, make new friends, have fun and enjoy good company.

One couple who enjoyed the Jubilee themed celebrations was Valerie and Len Duggan, who were celebrating their 65th Wedding Anniversary.  Valerie was 17 ½ when they married and Len 21 years old, they received a card from the Queen. Len was over the moon to be celebrating their anniversary at the Dementia Café and was proud as punch to show everyone their card.

Thank you to everyone who made the event such a resounding success and thank you to Nigel Wood for capturing the celebrations photographically.
