Earlier in the year Home Instead successfully delivered ‘Free Dementia Educational Workshops’ for local families, carers and businesses, with over one hundred and thirty attendees. We started working with ‘Love Ormskirk ‘and together are trying to help make Ormskirk one of the first Dementia Friendly towns in the North West. The Ormskirk - West Lancashire and Chorley - office was shortlisted as a finalist in the prestigious 2013 Specialist Care Awards and  more recently Home Instead Senior Care have been independently recognised as ‘England’s No1 - care at home provider’ .

Home Instead are helping to drive up quality standards in local health & social care services and our determination is not simply restricted to providing high quality care services for our clients. With all this in mind we are very proud to be sponsoring the ‘Nostalgia Tea Room’ and working with partners from within the local community. This ‘end of the year’ event is completely FREE and is being held at the Ormskirk Civic Hall , on December 19th , from 2pm – 7pm. Home Instead are working closely with leading members of the local community including Ormskirk ‘Clock Tower’ Rotary Club and ‘Love Ormskirk ‘ . The ‘Nostalgia Tear Room ‘is another excellent opportunity for family carers to take their loved ones, equally it is where friends can simply meet to enjoy ‘afternoon tea’ and get immersed in all the festive fun.

This year our ‘Nostalgia Tea Room ‘ Christmas theme is designed to stimulate memories and conversations through  the singing of Christmas Carols, listening to a live Brass Band and enjoying Christmas smells, foods, sights and memorabilia from times gone by. Home Instead  will also be using the occasion to  help raise awareness and where appropriate funds for many local West Lancashire based  charities and community initiatives who  have been offered stalls  including ; Connect4Life, Ormskirk Food Bank  which is seeded by the trussell trust , helping them support local people in crisis , The Birchwood Centre, Help Direct , West Lancashire Carers Centre and The Ormskirk ‘Clock Tower’ Rotary Club.

Gail Godson Director of Home Instead and the inspiration behind the ‘Nostalgia Tea Room ‘concept goes on to say “This FREE festive themed event is open to the community and if anyone  knows someone who might benefit from attending this special occasion then please do let them know, we would also clearly appreciate it if you are able to kindly spread the word via local networks and obviously if time permits we would be delighted to see everyone there on the day”.

In 2014 Home Instead will be supporting  further ‘Nostalgia Tea Room’ events which will be held on Saturdays at the Age UK, Health & Well - Being Centre, More Gate , Ormskirk from 1pm – 4pm  on the following dates: February  8th  April 12th  , June 14th , Aug  9th  and Oct  18th  .
