"People living with dementia and their carers were exceptionally well supported by the organisation" CQC report (February 2018)
As specialists in at-home care for older people, more than half of our clients are diagnosed with, or have symptoms of dementia, and it is important that we do as much as possible to improve their quality of life.
Our approach is to work with a client's personal history and build their life story in order to support them in their individual challenges with dementia. In addition, we provide practical techniques to support clients and their families to understand and manage challenging behaviour, and to engage with clients who may lose interest in activities due to low mood or as the disease progresses.
We provide specialist City & Guilds accredited training to all our staff within the first few months of joining Home Instead.
A key element of this training is allowing our CAREGivers share their knowledge with each other, and with the family members they support.
We also provide regular dementia friendly events in the community which are free to attend. For more information please call 01243 884111.
