First CAREGiver Induction of 2019
Today is the first day of our new CAREGiver Induction in 2019!
We are completing Module 1- The Ageing Process and part of that is experimenting with the the sensitivity kit.
The sensitivity kit is an extremely useful activity that includes blurred glasses that replicate impaired vision, gloves with cotton wool at the tip to replicate arthritis and a wooden stick to replicate joint stiffness.
This activity puts our new CAREGivers in the shoes of a potential client that may experience one or more of these challenges.
The new CAREGivers are asked to write out a cheque to a heating company, they all appreciated how difficult this was with the added barriers that some of our clients may face.
We then discussed as a group what we could potentially do to support a client that may face these challenges.
A very worthwhile activity that introduces our new CAREGivers to a new way of supporting individuals to enhance the quality of their life as well as maintaining their independence as much as possible.
Together, we will change the face of ageing.
