Meet the team

Charlotte Johnson - Director

Following 14 years of working in the manufacturing, design and retail industry I decided to research areas where I could apply my skill set in order to really make a difference to people’s lives.

The care sector, following several years of research – is an area I feel drawn to. I want to ensure we are treating the elderly with the respect and time they deserve. Having learnt the current care model we operate in the UK is in dire need of support and better direction I hope that by providing Home Instead care to our local Charnwood and Loughborough community I can go some way towards supporting the larger concern.

Jade Thumwood- Operations Manager

My name is Jade Thumwood and I have recently joined the team at Home Instead Charnwood as the Operations Manager. Whilst I started my career as a Care Assistant whilst at University studying for my BA Hons, I left the care industry and moved into Recruitment and Sales Management.

Missing the enrichment from working in the care industry I then went on to become an Office Manager at a private care home group.

I jumped at the opportunity to work for Home Instead Charnwood because of the outstanding services, excellent industry reputation and the enrichment they offer the lives of their clients, families and the CAREGivers. Letting someone provide care for you at home can be a very personal experience. That’s why we set the bar extremely high with regards to the standard of care we deliver.

I am excited to part of a team that can offer this excellent care service and I look forward meeting all our clients and CAREGivers very soon.

Sophie Richards- Recruitment and Networking

I have worked in the care industry for 7 years altogether, 5 years as a carer working with the elderly, children with complex needs, mental health and challenging behaviour.  For the other two years I have worked behind the scenes in the management sector of care services, recently graduating from my Level 5 in Health and Social Care.

I absolutely love everything about the care industry and was immediately drawn to Home Instead as they offer a service that not only enriches the lives of their clients but also their families and the CAREGivers that visit them. I’m excited to be part of an establishment that genuinely cares for their clients and CAREGivers alike, I hope I can fit in like part of the furniture and add to the already amazing personalised care service that is already enhancing plenty of lives in the area.

Lucy Perkins - Client Coordinator

My name is Lucy Perkins and I have recently joined the team at Home Instead Charnwood as the Front of House Coordinator. Whilst I started my career as a Nursery Nurse, quickly moving into management, I then went on to become a CareGiver in the community and later in a private care home. Following my interest in the care sector I decided to study Health and Social Care and achieved level 2 and level 3 diplomas. Following my diploma I went to Leicester De Montfort University and studied transition to nursing. I am very excited to be joining a team at Home Instead Charnwood, they clearly have the same passion as I do when supporting the elderly to stay in their own homes. It will most likely be me you speak to when you call the office and I look forward to speaking and meeting with you soon.

Susie Barber Care Coordinator Home Instead Senior Care

Susie Barber -Care Coordinator

Hi my name is Susie, I have recently joined the team at Home Instead as the Scheduling Coordinator.

I started my working career as an Engineering Apprentice and later used the skills learnt to take on a Sales and Marketing position within a manufacturing environment for the next 18 years.  As my family grew I decided to take a job at a primary school as a Teaching Assistant to a year 2 class which I really enjoyed; once my children were at secondary school I went back into Sales and Marketing but missed the feel-good factor I got from working with children.

My key skills are organisation and planning and I also love talking to and getting to know new people.  I decided to join Home Instead Charnwood as I felt this role would utilise the skill set I have learnt and offer me the opportunity to engage with people. It is really important to me to know that I am part of a team offering enhanced care to the local community and if there is anything I can do to help you please do get in touch at

Home Instead Charnwood's Expanding Team!

We are so lucky to have an ever- expanding team of great CAREGiver's

you can care

Our CAREGivers

We’re looking for more people with the personality and passion to build great relationships with our clients

Our clients trust us. They will rely on you to listen carefully to what they need, take an interest in them and deliver excellent care.  If you enjoy interacting with older individuals and want to pursue an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of older people, caregiving might be the career for you.

The central and most important part of a CAREGiving role with Home Instead is offering companionship and conversation.  Each of our CAREGivers is matched to a client based on mutual interests and hobbies to encourage a strong relationship to develop.

We believe you need this understanding and bond to be able to care for someone as if they were a member of your own family.  Indeed, many of our CAREGivers do not have formal experience of working as a carer before they join our team, but have looked after a family member and want to make a difference to an older person’s life by using the experience they have gained.

Our service is companionship led and so a considerable responsibility of a CAREGiver is to stimulate and encourage the client through a range of different activities that sustain or improve their quality of life.  A CAREGiver’s responsibilities can also include accompanying clients to appointments and social events, light housekeeping, planning and preparing meals and helping with daily living routines.

We are looking for friendly, kind, compassionate people who like to spend time with older people and build a friendly but professional relationship.  Therefore we don’t believe in onerous application forms, we prefer to meet face to face for a chat to make sure you match our values and most importantly for you to see what Home Instead is all about. Don’t worry if you don’t have sector experience, we have extensive training and on-going development opportunities that will enable to you deliver our special brand of relationship-led care.
