Private Home Care
Dedicated private home care from trained Care Professionals who can tailor a care package to suit your needs–whether physical, emotional, or medical–in the comfort of your home.

What is private home care?
Private home care is similar to standard social care you might receive from your local council, except it is provided by a private carer or agency, and tailored to suit your needs at home. While social care is more of a basic, one-size-fits-all solution to address the immediate needs of an older person, private home care can be more bespoke, flexible, and preference-based. This may include:
- Personal care (bathing and getting dressed)
- Mobility support
- Housekeeping
- Companionship
- Medical care
- Medication management
- Respite care for families
- Specialist care (such as dementia care or palliative care)
Private home care can be anything from occasional visits for help with daily activities, to live-in care for those with more intensive needs.
How does private home care differ from other types of care?
Age UK estimates 2 million older people in England live with some type of unmet care need, for example, mobility support to move around safely, or a medical condition that requires medication management. Private care is designed to help older adults stay in the place they feel most comfortable, as recommended by the World Health Organization. Unlike standard care services, it is usually arranged directly with an agency or caregiver, and funded by the individual or family.
While standard social care can be restrictive in terms of schedule and scope of care, private care can be more personalised, giving older adults more agency over their daily routines and allowing them to shape their schedule around their own needs and preferences.

Is private home care right for your loved one?
It can be difficult to decide the best time to begin home care for an older loved one, and there are also choices to be made around what kind of care is best; standard care, a care home, or private care? Private home care may be the best choice if:
- You have a specific health condition that requires a strict schedule of care
- You need only a few hours of help per week that is not covered by your local council
- You prefer consistent care that is not rushed, and is not limited to council resources
- You need full-time live-in care for maximum support, and would prefer more control and flexibility over this arrangement
- You have undergone a care needs assessment but have only been offered limited social care, or you are waiting for care to be implemented

My mum receives excellent care from Home Instead. They are all very caring, friendly, organised and help my mum to feel happy, safe and well cared for in her own home. The carers are very good at communicating with the office and in turn the office are great at communicating any concerns to me as situations arise.
