It’s easy to overlook just how much difference a bit of help at home can make. Tasks like dusting, laundry, or meal prep may seem small, but they’re the routines that help life feel normal and manageable. At Home Instead Bromley, our home help and housekeeping services ease the strain on families while helping older adults remain independent in a clean, safe space. Whether it’s changing bed linens, picking up shopping, or simply staying on top of the day-to-day, our expertly matched Care Professionals are here to lend a hand and a listening ear. Home help visits can also be a gentle transition into care, so if needs change over time, trusted support is already in place, delivered with care and in the way that feels right.
We offer two types of home care: hourly care, where we visit at set times, or live-in care, where a carer resides in the home. Struggling with household tasks can be one of the first signs that someone may need support, but it’s often not just about the cleaning. One client came to us after cockroaches were found in his kitchen. He had stopped keeping on top of things following the loss of his wife and was feeling low and socially isolated. Now, with regular visits from his Care Professional, his home is clean, comfortable, and back to normal. More importantly, he has someone to talk to, and that companionship has helped him regain confidence. He looks forward to these visits, he’s taking care of himself, going out for walks around Norman Park and goes out to lunch on his own again. Sometimes, a tidy home is just the beginning of feeling like yourself again.

Home help might seem simple, but our team knows it’s so much more. It’s about arriving with a genuine desire to make life easier for those we support, and we’re helping our clients in Bromley feel more in control of their home. We’re proud to be the only home care provider in the area rated Outstanding by the CQC, a title we’ve held for seven years. In 2023, one of our Care Professionals was also awarded Highly Commended in the Home Care Worker category at the Great British Care Awards Greater London. These honours reflect the care, skill, and attention to detail we bring to every visit, whether it’s tidying a room or lifting someone’s spirits.
A clean, tidy home isn’t just about appearances; it’s the foundation for building confidence and socialising with others again. When everyday tasks feel manageable, it’s easier for older adults to focus on the things they love. That’s why our home help service goes hand in hand with reconnecting clients to their community. From joining seated exercise classes run by Age UK Bromley to singing along with the Memory Singers at Bromley URC Church, we’re here to help your loved one get out, stay active, and feel proud of the place they come home to. With the right support in place, living well at home can open the door to a fuller life outside it, too.
