We provide bespoke home care and companionship for older people in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes in Braintree and the surrounding areas including Great Notley, Black Notley, Cressing and Panfield. Tailored home care assistance with daily tasks such as medication, shopping, bathing or food preparation can help to maintain independence.
We have produced a popular What on Where guide, which carefully considers mobility challenges and sign posts to groups and events that can provide enriching experiences for those living alone. For example; Braintree town’s rich history can be explored in the Braintree District Museum and Braintree and Bocking Gardens are an accessible delight.

Our experienced team in Braintree and Bocking can give guidance through the process of finding companionship and care at home. We can help to start the conversation with sensitivity and understanding. Care in the home, surrounded by the familiarity of your surroundings and the benefit of one to one support is often a preferred option for the elderly and their families when they start to feel vulnerable. Our care professionals are experts in discreetly supporting people with everyday tasks like bathing and dressing, ensuring their comfort and dignity
Entrusting the care of a loved one into another’s hands or partnering with professionals to provide the best outcomes for elderly care can be a daunting prospect. At Home Instead we understand this and one way we can manage concerns is through the use of digital care plans. In near real time you can read the observation notes from visits. We can monitor any health trends that might not be apparent in isolated visits and pick up nutritional worries or personal care omissions. Our care professionals regularly attend appointments with clients at one of the five GP surgeries across the town which make up the Braintree Primary Care Network. As well as attending some of the drop-in sessions and availing of the connections to the community

We are continually developing our well trained team of care professionals. Regular professional training in Dementia care and completion of City and Guilds Dementia awareness training gives our team the self-assurance to ‘enter the world’ of those we serve who are living with Dementia. We are confident that the nature of the care we offer can evolve to meet future challenges. Whether that is catheter or stoma care or for more complex areas such as peg feeding. Post Covid anxiety is still with us, particularly amongst the elderly who were isolated for a long period. Our care team, with guidance from her mental health occupational therapist, have helped Mrs B with ‘Square Breathing’ and ‘Grounding techniques’ to help her manage her anxiety
We are active members of the Braintree Dementia Friendly Community and regularly come together with other like-minded businesses, charities and third sector organisations to see how we can expand dementia awareness in our area and highlight the importance of early and accurate diagnosis. This year we will be hosting our annual Dementia Action Week event from 19th to 25th May 2025 in Braintree Village. We will be joined by, among others, Essex Dementia Care, Carers First and Friends of Braintree Community Hospital. Every first Thursday of the month we are at Braintree Town Hall for the monthly Dementia drop in, giving advise on all things assistive technology.
