New Live-In Care Service Launched in Basingstoke

The time may come when care visits are not enough and more extensive care is needed. However, residential care is not the only option - live-in care can allow you to receive personalised support whilst remaining at home, with all the comforts, familiar routines and independence that you are used to.

Home Instead Basingstoke is delighted to announce that it has launched its new live-in care service.  Clients in north Hampshire, from Hartley Wintney to Whitchurch and up to Tadley, can now have a Home Instead CAREGiver living with them to  provide Home Instead’s quality care and support when they need it, but without changing their normal way of life.  Home Instead’s live-in care is a natural follow-on from our hourly care.

Our live-in CAREGiver will be available to you to provide a familiar face and company, to help around the house and prepare your meals, to take you out, and to assist you as necessary with your personal care.

Our live-in care arrangement is flexible around your needs. You may just need someone to stay overnight; you may need short term live-in care for respite or to cover family holidays; you may need someone to live in for a few days each week, or you may need full time long term live-in care. Please let us know what you have in mind so we can propose appropriate solutions.

Our live-in service is “fully managed”, meaning that the live-in carers are employed by us, they have been carefully assessed by us prior to engagement, we put them through our induction training and ongoing training programmes, we give them paid holiday, and we closely supervise the care that they provide to the client, all of which is very similar to the process for selecting, engaging and managing our hourly visit CAREGivers. If the live-in carer proves unsuitable or goes off sick we will liaise with you and make alternative arrangements. As with hourly care, our service is relationship-led, and of course the success of the relationship between client and CAREGiver is all the more important with live-in care. We therefore maintain very close ongoing and regular contact with both the CAREGiver and the client in order to ensure that the relationship is working out well and the client feels fully supported, by an individual  whom he/she (and the family) can relate to.

Home Instead runs a centralised national recruitment operation for live-in carers, giving us the ability to find the best match for our clients from a larger pool, with the intention to offer someone who is UK resident (and ideally relatively local). It also gives us the ability to replace live-in carers who prove to be a bad match for the client, or who need to be replaced for other reasons, relatively easily.

Although we can source live-in carers nationally, we nevertheless manage all aspects of the service locally, from our office in Basingstoke, with a dedicated local live-in supervisor. Because we also do hourly visiting care, we can provide a full “wrap-around” service if necessary to cover the live-in carer’s breaks, provide overnight care, or provide a second carer where additional support is required for particular tasks.

Our live-in service is fully regulated by the Care Quality Commission in the same way as our visiting service is.

We would of course be very pleased to discuss live-in care further and start the necessary processes to put it in place for you – do please give us a ring on 01256 840 660 or email [email protected]
