Personal care is often the main focus of home care, and our experienced team in Basingstoke has been providing personal care services to clients across north Hampshire since 2015. Our objective is to deliver personal care assistance with respect and a commitment to preserving a client’s dignity and independence. We recognise that it is a big step to accept assistance with such a private aspect of your life, so we provide support that is carefully personalised to the individual’s needs and wishes, and we only get as involved as the client wants us to get. Feeling that your personal care has been properly attended to can make a huge difference to an individual’s comfort and sense of well-being.

Our service will aim to maintain a client’s preferred routine and way of life. We will not intrude where we are not wanted. Personal care can start with simply being outside the door in case of difficulty whilst a client takes a shower. It can mean lending a hand to steady someone when necessary and being ready with the towel. It can mean helping to choose clothes, helping to put them on and brushing a client’s hair.
It can also of course mean continence support and more specialised assistance such as managing catheters. Whatever the details of the personal care required, our objective will be to give clients and their families the reassurance that comes from a carefully tailored and truly caring service.
We offer two types of home care: hourly care, where we visit at set times, or live-in care, where a carer resides in the home. Both are overseen by our care management team and delivered by compassionate Care Professionals. Each care package is made up of of a unique mix services to meet your needs.

We first met Ralph when he asked us to care for his mother in Hartley Wintney, and we provided elderly personal care for her over a couple of years. Ralph, now living in Silchester, came back to us several years later after a stroke which had left him partially paralysed and in need of help. We immediately started providing Ralph with home help, keeping his house clean, washing and ironing his clothes, and preparing meals. However despite his valiant efforts, Ralph was not managing his personal care successfully. A proud man, requiring care at a much younger age than he might have anticipated, Ralph reluctantly accepted that he needed personal care services. We carefully worked out with Ralph the most acceptable ways to help him.

Claire lived near Baughurst, but she was no longer able to drive and her daughter, who lived in London, was concerned that Claire was becoming isolated and lonely. We started providing companionship visits to take Claire out to social events, coffee or just for a walk in Tadley or Basingstoke. Claire was becoming forgetful and it soon became clear to her daughter that Claire was neglecting her personal care. We expanded our involvement to include elderly personal care visits in the mornings, comprising a shower, selection of clothes, hair and make-up, followed by breakfast, and then the outings. Claire and her carers built particularly strong relationships.
Feeling unable to attend properly to your personal care can make anyone feel uncomfortable, embarrassed and lacking in self-confidence. Longer term it could lead to skin and other health issues. Families will often be the first to notice if a loved one’s personal care is no longer up to former standards. Our elderly personal care services are there to help in these situations; just give us a ring and our friendly staff will discuss your concerns and how we can help in the most acceptable way.
