My auntie absolutely adored the girls who came to see her each day. They couldn’t do enough for her. Whether she just wanted a hand to hold or someone to chat with for an hour, they always honoured her wishes with care and kindness.
Charlotte, Grandniece of a client

The care mum received was excellent and the team worked extremely well. They are all reliable and very caring.
MP, son of a client

I wanted to thank you very much for the help with my father, it is so appreciated, Nessie has been amazing. He is now at the stage where he feels well recovered enough to manage on his own
Mary, daughter of a client

All very friendly and caring, catered to Mum’s needs, and also managed to add an extra hour at short notice. All in all, very happy with the service
Tracy, daughter of a client

Home Instead has done their best to provide suitable care with minimal changes in Care Professionals, which is very important to my mother, as she finds it difficult to have ‘new’ helpers in the house.
Very efficient.
Visits satisfactory.

Excellent support and guidance from the team and good communication. Really friendly staff and genuinely caring attitude, thank you.

I have nothing but praise for the support and care you provide my parents.
It has been a tremendous help now that the Care Pros handle their medication. Managing their health appointments, vet visits, finances, bills, equipment servicing, and funding can sometimes feel overwhelming, and knowing that their medication is taken care of brings me such relief.

Mum started receiving care from Home Instead at the end of August having been in respite care for 2 weeks, she suffers from vascular dementia. From my very first contact, through to meeting the deputy manager who created our care plan, through to Mum’s 3 carers and another staff member who has taken over our case from the deputy manager, I can not speak highly enough of you all.
Your care, respect, thoughtfulness and politeness are amazing, putting the client in the middle of everything you do.
Anyone looking for care look no further!
Maryanne

I have been delighted by the standard of care provided. It has been very professional yet understanding and patient. I have made no request which has not been met immediately. Friends have dropped round unexpectedly but have been made welcome. Trips out to visit a friend, helped with my exercises etc. Thank you for sending such a lovely and capable person.

Home Instead have been providing care to Mum for over three years, initially one visit per day but as Mum’s needs increased they were able to increase to 3 visits a day at very short notice. The carers were wonderful with Mum, being patient, caring and loving. They always greeted her with a smile and we felt they genuinely cared for Mum’s welfare. Mum looked forward to their visits as it brightened up her day. They were proactive in adapting to Mums changing needs. Thank you for providing my brother and me with peace of mind.

My mother is visually impaired, now in her 80s and was widowed a few years ago. She was keen to retain her independence and stay in the family home but required support to do so. Home Instead took the time to understand what support was required, tailored a service to suit her and has provided reliable, regular assistance for over a year. They have taken Mum on trips, helped with shopping, meals, paperwork and household chores and have provided companionship throughout that time. It has meant that Mum could stay in familiar surroundings for longer than she would have been able to otherwise. I thoroughly recommend them.

As this was my first experience of this type of service I did not completely know what to expect. I found the initial introduction to be informative, understanding and carried out with compassion. A plan was formulated that met our needs and with a few days Care Professionals were visiting our home. I can, from my experience completely recommend Home Instead.
Terry C (Husband of Client)

I cannot praise the Home Instead team too highly. The care professionals looking after my parents went to endless lengths to keep them happy and comfortable at home, and the office team performed short-notice organisational miracles of all sorts, including, for instance, providing cover when we got Covid and couldn’t visit. Everyone was so kind and so gentle with my increasingly fragile parents.
Sandra B (Daughter of Client)

My parents had just started using Home Instead’s services when my father fell and broke his hip. The manager and the team were marvellous in immediately providing the unanticipated extra care needed to make sure they were well looked after. Since then, they have settled into a daily routine with a small team of lovely carers who are all unfailingly kind, willing and able.
Kate G (Daughter of Client)

It has been the most wonderful company I have worked for in the 9 years of my caring career. They are a fantastic well lead care company and most of all their clients come first along with high standards of care being offered by myself and other Care Professionals. Being a Care Professional myself for Home Instead has been a great opportunity to be supported by the management team.
Jason - Care Professional

As this was my first experience of this type of service I did not completely know what to expect. I found the initial introduction to be informative, understanding and carried out with compassion.
A plan was formulated that met our needs and with a few days Care Professionals were visiting our home. We found all the staff that visited us to be polite, and very able to carry out the tasks we required and I would not have any reservations in using them again.
I can, from my experience completely recommend Home Instead.
Terry C (Husband of Client)

Home Instead have been providing care for our mother since July 2022. They have covered for our normal carer when she has been away. They go in twice each Saturday to give our normal carer a day off. They cover when our normal carer is away as well.
Staff in the office is very efficient and helpful. The carers who have been to see Mum are all lovely. Carers are all very caring towards Mum and Mum likes them all very much.
My siblings and I are really pleased and extremely grateful to everyone at Home Instead for the help and support you are giving us in caring for our Mum.
Elizabeth V (Daughter of Client)

Right from the beginning of talking to the director, I knew this would be the right company to assist my mum and us. Always helpful, very responsive and once Mum was home we never had to worry if carers would arrive, a schedule was sent out each week in advance to let us know who was coming. My mum was happy with the care provided and overall in the circumstances, we could not have asked for more. Mum passed away in good hands and we are very grateful to everyone who helped us. I would definitely recommend Home Instead should you need home help. Thanks everyone
Amanda W (Daughter of Client)

My experience with home and said has been exceptionally good and has aided my recovery. I have been showing kindness and dignity and respect of my home. Continuity of care team and arriving on time has been important to me. Only once was my time altered and unfortunately, I was not informed. Thank you for providing this service as I live alone and it has been invaluable to me.
N M (Client)

Having Home Instead allows me to remain living in my own home. Everyone has been very helpful throughout the process of having to now have carers.
M B (Client)

All staff at Home Instead Yeovil are polite and professional. My mum is very happy with the care that Home Instead has always provided, including extra cover for my mum when needed, which has been much appreciated. I would recommend them.
L , Client's daughter

I would like to thank all the Home Instead staff for their professional approach. The care workers were so kind to my mum, and nothing was too much trouble.
My mum had just one morning visit per day, which made all the difference in her life. Knowing a care worker would be there each morning gave her something to look forward to—an hour of chat and company. It was also peace of mind for our family.
The care workers were generally punctual, and if they couldn’t make a visit or were running late, the office staff would always call us to let us know.
Mum also enjoyed attending the Home Instead Christmas parties!
Thank you all, I am eternally grateful
Sandra, client's daughter

The service has been brilliant and Dr Mark Hunt has been amazing!
Daughter of client

Just to let you know, Sylvia did an excellent job looking after my mother over the last two weeks. She was really kind and attentive and very professional and my mother was very pleased to be looked after her (once she got to know her, as she was new). So it all worked out very well and I was reassured to know that Sylvia was looking after my mother when I was far away.
Karin, daughter of client

We have found the services provided by Home Instead uniformly excellent. Individual carers have been thoughtful, reliable and always responsive. In the same way, the management team have been both patient and quick to adapt to our changing needs, and are always available for discussion.
Niall, son of a client

| Home Instead have been providing daily care for my Uncle for 3 years. The service is excellent, it has enabled my uncle to stay in his home rather than go into care which is as he wants. He has a lovely relationship with the carers who go above and beyond what is expected. I am kept informed, any issues and niggles are quickly and satisfactorily sorted, and they go the extra mile in working with me to sort out any problems. Have no hesitation in recommending the service. I live a long way from my Uncle, and there are no other relatives so trusting Home Instead has been so vital in enabling him to live as he wishes and to give me peace of mind. |

Our services include companionship care, personal care, specialist care (including dementia, palliative, and Parkinson’s), and live-in care.
Search here if you cannot see your town or postcode - What local support is available?
Ensuring reliable live-in care means having robust support ready to handle any changes or emergencies. It’s important to ask how a provider manages carers schedules, especially if adjustments are needed or if a carer is unavailable.
At Home Instead we maintain a comprehensive local team that coordinates alternative arrangements in situations such as if the Care Professional is ill, without disrupting care continuity – ensuring your loved one always receives the attention they need.
- Are your carers employed or are they self-employed?
There are broadly two types of live-in care providers: self-employed carers and professional care companies. Self-employed carers typically offer flexibility and may cost less, but they often lack regulation, comprehensive training, and insurance, which can impact the quality and reliability of care.
Professional care companies, like Home Instead, directly employ Care Professionals who are rigorously trained and fully background-checked and insured. These employees are covered under the company’s policies, including national insurance and payroll, ensuring a secure, and high-standard care environment.
- What qualifications do your carers have?
Training and qualifications are vital in ensuring live-in carers deliver high-quality care. It’s a good idea to ask about the providers training levels and certifications.
Home Instead’s Care Professionals receive comprehensive training in areas such as mobility support, dementia and Parkinson’s care, catheter management, and end of life support. Our commitment to ongoing professional development ensures they are well-prepared to provide compassionate and effective care across various scenarios.
- How do you match caregivers with clients?
Compatibility between a live-in carer and client can greatly influence the quality of care. It’s beneficial to enquire about the matching process and how a provider ensures that the caregiver’s personality and skills align with the client’s needs and preferences.
At Home Instead, we carefully, match clients with one or more Care Professionals based on shared interests and care requirements to foster a comfortable and supportive relationship.
- How does your service ensure care continuity during emergencies or caregiver changes?
Continuity of care is essential, especially in emergencies or when regular live-in carers are unavailable. Ask your care provider how they handle such situations.
Home Instead has protocols in place to ensure that care continues seamlessly, with trained Care Professionals ready to step on so that your loved one’s needs are always met without interruption.
- What is live-in care?
Live-in care means a trained, professional carer will live with you in your home in order to provide the care you need on a regular basis, and support your specific needs. This is often a preferable alternative to a care home or nursing home, and it allows older people to remain living in their own home alongside a constant companion who can assist with things like personal care, specialist medical care, cooking, housework, and more.
Discover More - How much does live-in care cost?
Every live-in care package is unique to the individual client, so the best way to gauge how much this will cost you is to get in touch to discuss your loved ones needs. As a rough guide to cost, live-in care through an agency often ranges from around £1,350 to £2,000 per week in the UK, depending on their needs and other factors mentioned in our guide on cost linked below.
Discover More - How many hours does the Care Professional work?
Live-in care is not the same as 24-hour care. A Care Professional will typically work an 8 to 10 hour day. Those hours will be discussed in your initial assessment and tailored to suit the needs of the person receiving care. A live-in Care Professional is of course on hand in case of emergencies, but it is not generally expected that they will provide ongoing night care. The Care Professional also needs to have breaks throughout the day, and other Care Professionals may visit the home if a wrap-around care service is offered, giving the main care provider their needed breaks without any interruption in support.
- What will a live-in Care Professional require?
A live-in Care Professional must have their own bedroom for personal space. It is also typically expected that the home has an internet connection. Arrangements for food will be discussed in your consultation, but the Care Professional typically receives a weekly food allowance to purchase food for themselves. Live-in Care Professionals may cook and eat with their clients, or they may decide to do this separately, depending on the dietary requirements and personal preferences of everyone involved.
- What are the benefits of live-in care at home?
Live-in care at home empowers the elderly to maintain their independence, dignity, and a sense of control over their lives, while still receiving dedicated, comprehensive support. By far the main benefit is that live-in care allows care recipients to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own home, which can significantly enhance emotional well-being and quality of life. This form of care is highly personalised, adapting to the specific needs and routines of the individual, ensuring tailored support for daily activities, medication management, mobility assistance, and more. The one-on-one nature of live-in care fosters a strong bond between the Care Professional and care recipient, providing companionship and reducing feelings of isolation. Staying at home eliminates the disruption and stress often associated with moving to a care facility, and even 24 hour live-in home care can also be considerably more cost-effective than residential care options, as it avoids facility fees which can often be extremely steep.
