First on the list to try out was a local day centre called Daybreak Respite in Laleham which runs every Tuesday from 10am – 3pm. Ron was delighted with his experience and enjoyed his visit to Daybreak Respite. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the activities they had planned were fun and engaging. Here’s what Ron had to say about his reccy visit with Community Engagement.

“On a bright Tuesday morning I accompanied Jo to Leylam Rd, Staines where we easily found parking by the entrance to St. Peters Church Hall to be warmly greeted by a DayBreak volunteer. We were seated in the half circle of 30 or so persons of retiring age entertained by a folk singing guitarist. We were overwhelmed with enquiring interest from all sections of those present, even an Ex Mayor. Jo was highly amused (and a little jealous) that I was offered a lovely glass of sherry before lunch which was served at 1pm. I was seated with some lovely, friendly ladies. Lunch was served; chicken, mushroom & potato pie followed by pastry and custard, delicious. The afternoon Sam from Home Instead Community Team also joined us. After lunch I was invited to participate in a quiz and various games. It was a great day.”
