Health care Information Day - 2017

On Thursday 21st September 2017 we launched a band new community event, our Health Care Information Day. Home Instead and exhibitors from other local companies, as well as UK-wide charities, attended this event to promote their services and offer guidance, advice and support to elderly visitors of the event.

The aim of the event was to help people discover products and services available in their local area to help make their lives easier and keep them independently living at home. We wanted to do something to help individuals in our community who didn’t know what was available to them, or where to turn. The day went really well, and after this year’s success we have decided to go ahead and make this an annual event.

Our events and management team worked hard to rally together some appropriate exhibitors that would benefit Weston’s elderly community. Local companies that attended were: Clean & Care Day Centre, Farsight Wills, The Golden Oldies Sing & Smile Group, Gooding Disability, Groves Family Funeral Directors, Hutton Moor Leisure, Home Instead, Mobile Library Service, We Care & Repair and Wiltshire Farm Foods all attended, as well as UK-wide companies The Stroke Association, Age UK, the Alzheimer’s Society, the Red Cross, Lloyds Pharmacy and Contact the Elderly. The event was opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Weston, who had a look around at the stalls and even stopped for a tea and cake.

The event also featured a taster session from local singing and friendship group ‘The Goldies’ which really got the crowd going, the whole room got involved with the singing and dancing. A great way to cheer everyone up on a rainy day.

The event also served tea, coffee and cakes in aid of Macmillan, raising a fantastic £70. Thank you to the Hope Church team for hosting our first event and thank you to all the companies for supporting us and attending.
