Groups and Activities In Thurrock

Thurrock u3a was formed over 20 years ago.

One of the main aims of the u3a is the provision of facilities for leisure time and recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life of persons of middle age and older in the interests of social welfare. They offer many interesting groups including board games, crafts, walking groups, day trips and holidays, they have members up to 97 years old.

They hold a monthly meeting in the Civic Hall.

Their membership fee is £20.00 per year, reduced to £10.00 from 1^st March.

Their  membership year is from 1^st September.

In Association with Beautiful Minds, a dementia friendly cinema club is held 1st Wednesday of every month at Thameside Theatre, Orsett Road Grays.

They want you to feel relaxed and comfortable, to be able to talk to each other or walk around, confident that fellow audience members understand and share the needs that you and your loved ones may have.

Their front of house team can assist you into the theatre with your walking aid or wheelchair if you would prefer to sit in a seat in the back row. They can then take your chair or frame outside for you until you leave. Please see a member of the front of house team when you arrive and they will be happy to help. Mobility scooters cannot be taken into the theatre but may be left in the foyer. Although seats are allocated when purchased you may sit wherever you feel comfortable.

Tickets cost £5.00 which includes tea/coffee and cake during the interval.
