Companionship and Befriending Service

Safely helping to reduce loneliness while remaining active and healthy

We provide a companionship and befriending service and help around the home to the communities of St. Albans, Radlett, Harpenden and surrounding villages.

There are times when we have all felt lonely and isolated, but in today's climate with the need for self-isolation and safe distancing, loneliness amongst adults has increased.

Loneliness can affect everyone and anyone, but as we age, we tend to feel more isolated, vulnerable and alone, especially after a bereavement, a slight decline in health or mobility has reduced and become limited.

For many, feeling lonely in old age is terrifying, loneliness has a significant impact on health as it's associated with depression, appetite and a decline in being active.

We believe that age shouldn't be a barrier to adventure and happiness, having a companion and someone to talk to even for a little chit-chat can help improve your quality of life and offer a feeling of self-worth.

Let Technology Be Your Friend

There are amazing gadgets available that are simple to use and that can really help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.

For example, easy-to-use radios that are preprogrammed to your favourite music channels and handheld devices which with one or two touches of your finger can connect you to your family or favourite quizzes and games.

We can help you choose something and set it up for you so you have all the benefits and none of the worry.

These aides can also help your family keep in contact with you and know that you are okay on a day-to-day basis.
