Sheffield based home care company Home Instead recently were involved with Sheffield 50+ group, Sheffield (Older Peoples Partnership Network) WRVS ,Women's Royal Voluntary Service and Age UK Sheffield, to celebrate an AGE’ event to coincide with the annual celebration of ‘Older People’s Day’ on the 1st October. The first event took place at the Crucible Theatre Sheffield and was a marvelous celebration of Age. The second event was the Volunteer Awards Ceremony at the Showroom. Sheffield 5TH October organised to recognise and thank volunteers within our community who give their time to work across the city providing help and support to our vulnerable residents. Organisations were asked to nominate volunteers for awards and there were a 100 people attended and all received certificates and awards the event was opened by the Lord Mayor of Sheffield Mr John Campbell.
For the past few months, the OPPN have been asking for nominations for a City Champion and this award was presented at the event to a Mr Graham Bell.
Home Instead who support and assist adults within their own homes thought it was an appropriate way for Sheffield to say a huge thank you to the outstanding work that is carried out by volunteers, helping people remain independent.
