Heartwarming feedback about home care received
Recently Home Instead Sheffield received a heart warming thank you from a family member of a former client of ours, this feedback has filled us with pride and made us so happy that we could make such a positive difference to our client and her families lives.
We work incredibly hard in order to provide care of the highest quality to all of our clients and comments like this make it all worth while.
We would like to thank Kath for these kind words and want her to know it is much appreciated and we wish her and her family all the best.
Here are her kind words:
“My mum in law is 89 years old and was diagnosed with Alzheimers 2 years ago. We knew her short term memory wasn’t good and were extremely worried about her living on her own, but we installed City Wide Alarms ‘red button’ and called regularly to take her shopping etc. However her bungalow is in a very isolated position on a small estate and she loved to sit in the lounge overlooking the garden at the back so that she saw no one for long stretches of time. Although she didn’t acknowledge that there was anything at all wrong…she was fine and didn’t need any help…we could see that she was becoming very depressed with life and especially her loss of indepepndence. From our point of view she was so vulnerable as she saw no danger at all in anything. She would let anyone into her house and even signed up three times for Satelite dish insurance over the phone!
We did what we could to keep her safe and as independent as possible…for as long as possible.
Last year, after a fall and 2 weeks in hospital, followed by 3 weeks respite in a Care Home, we decided to contact Home Instead, to put some care in place in her own home. We would like to place on record our thanks to Sarah and the whole team for their wonderful caring support over the 12 months Mum was at home…even though Mum made it difficult for the carers at times. We thought we would be able to keep going with this for a while longer by Mum became very ill in January. Following 3 weeks at home and 3 weeks in hospital, all of which left her less mobile and VERY confused, we took the difficult decision that she needed full time care.
She has settled well in her new home and asks less and less about her bungalow. She has made friends, is eating properly and is certainly less anxious and depressed.
Making decisions for relatives with Alzheimers is certainly not easy but we so much appreciated the advice along the way from Home Instead. It was such person-centred advice where we felt that they really cared about Mum and wanted what was best for her. Thank you to all.”
