Needing help with personal care can feel like a big step, but with the right person, it can become a natural part of daily life. Our care professionals are trained to offer gentle, respectful support with everything from washing and dressing to managing continence and prompting medication. We take the time to understand each client’s daily routines and preferences, ensuring that every visit is respectful of their wishes. Whether it’s helping get ready in the morning or settling in for the evening, we promote independence and help your loved ones feel confident in themselves. And because our support is delivered by someone they’re familiar with, personal care feels less intrusive and more like a trusted hand when it’s needed most.
We offer two types of home care: hourly care, where we visit at set times, or live-in care, where a carer resides in the home. Both are overseen by our care management team and delivered by compassionate Care Professionals. Each care package is made up of of a unique mix services to meet your needs.

Personal care is about more than just the task at hand; it’s about establishing trust, dignity, and a sense of ease. That’s why we carefully match each client with a care professional whose shared interests help create meaningful connections. For example, one client, a retired English teacher at Christ’s School, was hesitant about accepting help with bathing. To ease the transition, her book-loving care professional filled these intimate moments by chatting about favourite authors during their visits. These conversations transformed an uncomfortable routine into something more relaxed and familiar. With time and understanding, even the most personal tasks can feel natural.

The right personal care requires more than just training; it demands a genuine commitment to understanding each person we support. That’s what sets our team apart. We’ve been named one of the Top 20 Large & Mid-size Home Care Groups by HomeCare.co.uk for three consecutive years, and our dedication was nationally recognised when one of our care professionals, Stacey, received Home Carer of the Year in 2019. These honours reflect the extra effort our team puts in every day, ensuring our care is delivered in the way we’d want for our own families. Whether we’re supporting with personal care or looking for ways to brighten someone’s day, we bring the same thoughtful approach to every home we enter.
Personal care isn’t just about support behind closed doors; it’s also about opening up opportunities for community engagement and meaningful connection. At Home Instead Richmond, we’re proud to add an extra layer to our care by encouraging clients to take part in inclusive activities that bring joy and boost confidence. For example, the All Saints Church hosts a Seniors Social coffee mornings, to enjoy a friendly chat over a slive of cake several times a week. The Barnes Green Centre also runs age-friendly fitness and dance classes, and a Singing for the Brain session for those living with memory loss. From getting ready in the morning to stepping out with a smile, we help make each day feel a little fuller, inside and outside the home.
