We are running our “Be a Santa” Campaign again this year! “Be a Santa” is a gift-giving scheme in which you can positively impact the lives of older people in our community. We are working in partnership with Age Connects to collect donated gifts, to be given to many local elderly residents, who will mostly be alone at Christmas time.
We will be collecting gifts this year at:
Morrisons in Barry (Penny Way, Barry, CF63 4BA) from 10:00 till 13:00 on 27th November
Morrisons in Cardiff Bay (International Sports Village, Cardiff, CF11 0JP) from 10:00 till 13:00 on 28th November
For our “Be a Santa” Campaign, in 2022, we collected gifts from shoppers in supermarkets to donate to Age Connects.
We started the week at Morrisons in Barry. Their customers were wonderfully generous, and we came away with 6 sacks of donated gifts! Then we were at Morrisons in Cardiff Bay, again we were not disappointed as we had a trolley filled with wonderful gifts to donate.
Lastly, we were at Asda in Barry. Charlene Dudderidge the Community Champion, helped us to collect just over 7 black sacks of donated gifts. The customers were amazing, and most people acknowledged the difficult economic hardships faced by all, but particularly by those who were elderly and on their own.
We then had the task of wrapping and delivering all the gifts. We went to Age Connects both in Cardiff and Barry to hand over the presents that would be going to the people they support. As the response from the public was so great, we were also able to take presents to Rondel House in Barry to provide their day centre members with gifts at Christmas. We’d like to thank all the wonderful customers who donated items for our campaign, despite facing hard times themselves.
We hope this year’s campaign, will put just as many smiles on faces as it did last year!
