Home Instead Norwich were interviewed by Future Radio, talking about their recent EDP award win and their community activities for older adults.
Future Radio is one of the longest running community radio stations in the UK. Since 2005 Future Radio have been broadcasting to the locals of Norwich about people, organisations, culture, news and events in Norwich City. On the 4th January 2024, Future Radio were keen to share information on the services and community events Home Instead Norwich offer.
Presenter Sophie was interested to learn more about the Home Instead services. Chris explained “We provide relationship led care to support people to live independently at home. The types of things that we may assist someone with might include shopping and some house work, right through to more complex support including personal care and medication support”. Chris then when on to talk about their dementia services which might include helping people to be more active in the local community.
Sophie asked how we adapt care to each individual and Chris responded ” We have a really fantastic team of Care Professionals in Norwich who are a very diverse team, different ages and personalities. We match them with people who are needing support. We will liaise with the individual needing care and their families, to understand what will help them. It might be one visit a week to help with a bit of house work, or it might be someone who requires more support throughout the week. The Care Professionals will build up a friendship with their clients and will have a lot of fun as well as supporting them with the practical tasks they need help with”
Presenter Sophie then went on to ask how it felt to win the the Positive Impact In The Community award. Chris Responded – “It been a huge boost to everybody’s morale. We had a great night at the awards ceremony and its been a real buzz and exciting for everybody”
Lauren and Chris spoke about how they have been supporting the community recently with their Be A Santa To A Senior campaign which was a great success and the upcoming Home Instead Charities Companionship Café that Lauren will be volunteering at starting on Thursday 1st February 2024 at St Williams Way Library in Thorpe St Andrew, Norwich – 10:30am-12:00pm.
The Aim of the Companionship Café is to prevent social isolation, help people make friends in a safe environment and for people to learn more about modern technology which may support their daily lives. The group will be running on the first Thursday of every month starting in February and its completely free to attend.
Lauren also spoke about their free scam and fraud workshops and dementia workshops which they have delivered to the Norwich airport, Norfolk and Suffolk wellbeing team, local retailers and charities including Age UK Norwich. Lauren also mentioned she holds these workshops for individuals who are wanting to learn more. This will help them to be able to support their family members and friends with the care that they really deserve.
