Home Instead Care in Mid Cornwall
Home Instead: Exceptional, Relationship-Led Care for a Better Life at Home
At Home Instead, we believe that growing older shouldn’t mean giving up the comfort and independence of home. Our premium, relationship-led care service is designed to help older people live well in familiar surroundings—whether that means sharing a cup of tea and a chat, enjoying outings, or receiving more specialized support such as dementia care or help with daily tasks like washing and dressing.
More Than Just Care—A Commitment to Quality
What sets Home Instead apart is the depth of care beyond the time spent in a client’s home. We don’t just provide an hour of service; we build lasting relationships. This begins with our approach to recruitment—we don’t simply fill roles, we find people who are truly suited to caregiving, who value the work they do, and who are committed to staying with us long-term. This allows us to invest in their training and development, ensuring the highest quality of care. We were delighted in April 2026 to receive recognition from CQC with an Outstanding rating.
Truly Personalised Support
Through our Care Solutions approach, we go beyond basic care by offering unhurried visits of at least an hour. Our Caregivers take the time to truly know and understand each client—their needs, their preferences, and what makes them feel happy and secure. This personalised approach means our clients receive not only the practical help and personal care they need but also companionship, emotional support, and a sense of continuity in their daily lives.
With Home Instead, care isn’t just a service—it’s a relationship built on trust, compassion, and a genuine desire to enhance the lives of older people in their own homes.
Every caregiver gave a fantastic service and made my parents feel safe, comfortable and like friends.
The support team in Par were super efficient, friendly to deal with and helpful at all times.
My whole family has felt like they could trust the care given and also mix in a positive way with caregivers when we were in my parent’s home. This was so important to us.
I can’t thank everyone concerned enough. They all very much went that extra mile on a regular basis.”

What makes Home Instead different?
Training and Development
At Home Instead Mid Cornwall, we believe that exceptional care begins with exceptional training. Every Care Professional receives comprehensive training before supporting clients and continues to develop their skills throughout their career with us.
Our additional training covers both practical care skills and specialist areas of support. This may include administering eye drops, using equipment safely for moving and positioning, supporting people living with dementia, or providing compassionate palliative and end-of-life care.
We carefully introduce each Care Professional to the people they support and make extensive use of shadow visits. During these visits, new team members work alongside experienced colleagues to build confidence, develop their skills, and gain a thorough understanding of individual care routines and preferences. This approach helps ensure continuity, consistency, and the highest standards of care.
Coordination with the Office Care Team
Providing outstanding care at home involves much more than completing a list of tasks. It requires communication, coordination, and attention to the small details that help someone remain safe, comfortable, and independent.
Our office care teams in St Austell, Par Moor and Wadebridge work closely with Care Professionals, clients, families, GPs, district nurses and other healthcare providers to ensure everyone receives the support they need.
Care Professionals often notice subtle changes in a client’s wellbeing because they know them so well. They can identify concerns such as reduced mobility, signs of infection, increased confusion, pressure area risks, or changes in appetite and report these observations to our office team. We can then liaise with family members and healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate action is taken quickly.
We also help coordinate many day-to-day aspects of support, including medication reordering, shopping arrangements, wellbeing checks, and practical issues around the home. This joined-up approach helps people continue living safely and comfortably in their own homes.
Paid Travel and Waiting Time between Visits
Unlike many care providers, Home Instead Mid Cornwall schedules and pays for travel time between visits. We build at least 15 minutes between appointments—or longer where necessary—so Care Professionals have sufficient time to travel without rushing or cutting visits short.
This is particularly important in rural areas such as Wadebridge, Padstow, Trevone, St Merryn and St Kew, where travel times can vary significantly. By allowing adequate travel time, our Care Professionals can focus entirely on providing high-quality, person-centred care rather than worrying about getting to their next visit.

Strengths Based Care Planning
At Home Instead Mid Cornwall, we plan care with the person receiving support and, where appropriate, their family. We take the time to understand the whole person, not just their health needs or frailties.
One of the most important questions we ask is: “What does a good day look like for you?”
This helps us build a care plan around the person’s routines, preferences, interests, strengths and wishes. Whether someone enjoys gardening, a walk by the sea, a favourite meal, conversation, music, or simply feeling safe and settled at home, these details matter.
Our aim is to help older people across Mid Cornwall continue living well in the place they know and love: their own home. For many families, high-quality home care can offer better value than residential or nursing care, while also helping to achieve better outcomes, greater independence and a more personalised quality of life.

Next Steps
We are always happy to talk through your options by phone. We can then arrange a care consultation at home with our Care Manager, Claire, or one of our experienced Care Coordinators.
If the person needing support feels nervous, the first visit can simply be a relaxed conversation. We can explain what we do, answer questions, and provide reassurance without any pressure.
For a full care consultation, we build a holistic picture of the person and their wishes. This includes their life story, daily routines, activities they enjoy, food and drink preferences, mobility, health and medical needs, and the type of support that would help them feel safe, confident and independent at home.
