Families sometimes assume that live-in care means someone working twenty-four hours a day. In practice, your Care Professional works an agreed daily pattern, usually eight to ten hours with regular breaks, and stays in the home overnight so that support is available if it is ever needed. They will need a bedroom of their own, and arrangements for meals and household routines are agreed with you from the start, so everything fits comfortably around your home life rather than changing it. Care is usually shared between two Care Professionals, who alternate every few weeks to keep support consistent and allow proper rest. You get to know both well, and we arrange cover promptly if either is ever unavailable. Everything begins with a home visit from our Care Manager, who will discuss your needs, answer your questions and help you decide whether live-in care is right for you.
Our Care Professionals are chosen for their experience and their kindness in equal measure. Each one is fully DBS checked and completes thorough training, with ongoing development in specialist areas such as dementia support, and they are matched to each client with personality as well as care needs in mind. They are supported, in turn, by our local office in Torquay. We employ and supervise every Care Professional ourselves, visit regularly to review how the care is working, and make changes quickly whenever needs change. Relatives can contact us at any time, and we keep families updated as often as they wish, which is particularly reassuring for those living further away. As a fully managed service regulated by the Care Quality Commission, our care is independently inspected against national standards, so families can feel confident in the quality of the support from the very first day.
