With live-in care you keep your own routine and preferred way of living. You'll continue to choose when to get up and go to bed, what you would like to eat and how you spend your day, and your Care Professional is there to help with whatever you need. Having the same person with you each day means they get to know you well, and they will often notice early if something changes, such as your appetite or how steady you are on your feet, and let your family or GP know. Your Care Professional will have a bedroom of their own and sleeps in the house, so someone is close by overnight. If you do need regular support through the night, we can discuss with you the best way for us to support you. Most of our long-standing clients are supported by two live-in Care Professionals who take turns to live in for a few weeks at a time, so both become familiar faces. We plan the handovers carefully and arrange cover if either is away, and everything begins with a home visit.
Our live-in care is fully managed by our local team in Tavistock and their local knowledge helps day to day, because we know the GP surgeries and pharmacies in Tavistock and surrounding villages, along with the district nurses, and we can call on trusted local tradespeople if required too. We employ every Care Professional directly, DBS check them and give them ongoing training throughout their career with us, including in specialist areas such as dementia and Parkinson's.
