The amount of support we provide depends entirely on what you need. Some of our clients mainly want companionship, cooking and a hand around the house, while others need more comprehensive care, with help washing and dressing, managing medication and moving safely about the home. Whatever the level, it is personalised to your needs and can be adjusted as things change. Your Care Professional has a bedroom of their own and will usually work an agreed day of around eight to ten hours, settled at the first assessment, with proper breaks. They sleep in the house overnight, so someone is always close by if anything unexpected happens, and where care is needed through the night we can talk through how best to provide it. For continuity, most clients are supported by two Care Professionals who rotate every few weeks, and our local team looks after the schedule and the handovers.
The quality of the care we provide starts with the people who provide it. We carefully recruit and directly employ each Care Professional, DBS check them thoroughly before they begin, and train them on an ongoing basis, including in specialist areas such as dementia and Parkinson's care. Our local team then supervises the support and reviews it regularly as needs change. This is also why families can pick up the phone, meet us in person, and lean on a team who understand the area. Knowing there is someone close by who is genuinely accountable for the care tends to reassure relatives, wherever in the country they happen to live. We are regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission, so our standards are checked independently.
