To us it's personal

Our Care Professionals provide gentle, thoughtful support with personal care, medication management, nutrition, and simply being there to offer comfort and companionship. Each visit lasts at least an hour, giving proper time to help your loved one feel comfortable, supported and cared for without any rushing. We coordinate closely with local GPs, district nurses, pharmacists and hospice teams across Darlington, Northallerton, Richmond in North Yorkshire and Barnard Castle so everyone involved in your loved one’s care is working together seamlessly. Many of our Care Professionals can provide transport in their own cars to medical appointments, or help arrange visits from family and friends, taking pressures off at a time when you need to focus on being together.

Choosing Home Instead Darlington for personalised home care

Families often tell us how much continuity and trust mean during palliative care. One relative wrote on homecare.co.uk about care that was “always first class, with the same care professional” throughout, valuing how “the office team were always extremely helpful, supporting the family as a whole, not just the client, and responding quickly to any issues.” A son praised how the branch manager was “alert, bright, perceptive, empathetic and professional,” dispelling all concerns about employing carers, and described how the matched Care Professionals “bonded rapidly” with his mother and were “compassionate, warm and capable.” Another family appreciated that their loved one was “treated with care and dignity at all times” and that “nothing was too much trouble.” This level of attentive, compassionate care is what we strive to provide for every family we support.

Our Darlington Team is With You Through Every Step

Our Darlington and Northallerton team brings over a decade of experience providing palliative care locally, with a deep understanding of what families need during this difficult time. Our director's Darlington Borough Council Stronger Communities Award recognises our commitment to supporting the local community. Every Care Professional receives specialist training in end-of-life care, covering pain and symptom management, personal care, medication administration, and how to support families through grief and difficult emotions. Being local means we have established, trusted relationships with GPs across Darlington, Northallerton, Richmond in North Yorkshire, Barnard Castle and surrounding communities, district nursing teams, local pharmacies for urgent medication delivery, and palliative care specialists. These connections mean we can respond quickly if your loved one's needs change or symptoms need managing differently. This same responsiveness carries through into how we help coordinate additional support across the wider Darlington community. We work alongside Darlington Memorial Hospital, Woodlands Hospital, West Park Hospital, Friarage Hospital, Friary Hospital, local hospice services, and faith communities who can provide spiritual comfort during end-of-life care. We're also connected to local bereavement services and support groups, so we can signpost families to other sources of comfort and practical help during this time. Our involvement with organisations like Healthwatch Darlington means we understand the local health and social care landscape well, ensuring families receive the support they need both during palliative care and afterwards.
