Our Care Professionals are there to support your independence, helping with the parts of the day you find difficult while you carry on with everything you can manage yourself and we adjust the care whenever your needs change. One of our Care Professionals will live in a spare room in your home and will usually work for eight to ten hours each day, agreed at the assessment. Because they sleep at the house, someone is close at hand through the night, and where care is needed regularly overnight we will talk with you about how best we can support it. Two Care Professionals will normally share a longer-term arrangement, and each lives with you for a few weeks at a time before the other takes over. We plan the changeovers carefully and arrange cover if either is unavailable. The first step is a visit to your home from our local team.
Our live-in care is managed by a local team who know the area and the services available within it. We work closely with local GP surgeries, pharmacies, district nurses and other healthcare professionals, helping families coordinate support when it is needed. We also stay in regular contact with relatives and can meet with you at home to discuss your needs before care begins. Families have a local team they can contact throughout, with people who know the client and understand the care in place. Each local Home Instead team is regulated by the Care Quality Commission, and our Care Professionals are employed, trained and DBS checked by us.
