Hayley has been one of our Care Professionals in Felixstowe for 8 years now and tells us why she has no regrets making the move after seeing an advert in her local paper.

How did you hear about Home Instead?

“I saw an advert in the local paper.”

What prompted you to apply for the role?

“I wasn’t working and always liked the idea of doing care work in the community.”

What were you doing before joining Home Instead?

“I had been working in an office in an admin role.”

What do you like to do in your spare time and are you able to bring that into your role?

“In my spare time, I enjoy doing crafts including card making,  making jewellery, sewing, cooking, crocheting and knitting. I can bring my cooking skills into the role, providing healthy meals for our clients.”

What do you enjoy most about the role?

“I like to help our clients to live independently in their own homes.”

What do you think the benefits are of the hourly care role for both you and the client?

“The hourly visits enable me to build a good relationship with our clients and I do not have to rush during our visits.”

What activities, if any, do you do with your clients?

”My visits with clients mostly involve helping with personal care and some companionship. I enjoy talking about current affairs and listening to their stories.”

What would you say to anyone who is thinking about a role in care?

“What started as a temporary job, turned out to be one of the best decisions I made. Being able to care and enable someone to live independently gives me great job satisfaction, and the flexible hours enable me to fit in around my other commitments.”
