11 August 2020, Home Instead – Greenwich & Bexley announced the winners of Home Instead Fitness Challenge 2020 – CAREGier, Karen Roots and Care Manger, Kerry McDonalds are the joint Winners and the 2nd Place goes to CAREGiver Shimmy Pun. Shimmy is one of the longest serving CAREGivers, having worked with the company for more than four years.

Honing CAREGivers’ Cooking Skills

15 July 2020, Home Instead - Greenwich & Bexley has started live cooking sessions for CAREGiver to boost their cooking skills, competency and confidence so that they can support their clients with nutritional needs. Home Instead has always been aware of the immensely important part that food plays in older people's lives, and how providing nutritious, well presented meals are a core aspect of caring. In 2017 Home Instead, conducted a research that shows – the most important considerations for thinking about care and support was nutrition.

Fitness Challenge for CAREGivers and Key Players

Home Instead Senior Care - Greenwich and Bexley invited all Key Players and CAREGivers to participate with the incentive of a final prize of £150 handed to the winner of the challenge! The challenge started on Saturday, 13th June , which included a Zoom activity session delivered by very experienced instructor, Vusi who is a public health nutrition and fitness trainer with over 15yrs experience in the industry. She has a passion for supporting people to improve their physical and mental wellbeing through physical activity and good nutrition.

London Healthy Workplace Award – Accreditation

22 May 2020, Home Instead Senior Care – Greenwich & Bexley has been awarded London Healthy Workplace Award Accreditation. The London Healthy Workplace Award is a pan-London framework that supports and recognises investment in staff health and wellbeing, partnering local public health resource with employers. It complements the Mayor’s Good Work Standard which is designed to work alongside other existing initiatives to support fair employment practices and better workplaces.

Big Thanks to our Wonderful CAREGivers

7th May, 2029, working with Panas Gurkha Restaurant we delivered 100 meals to our CAREGivers and other Key Workers to say "Thank you" for the wonderful job they are doing during this pandemic. We often we focus so much on vulnerable people we forget the about the heroes who are making it possible for the older and vulnerable people live independently. During this pandemic, most of the UK population stayed at home, but the key works such as Carers, NHS workers, drivers etc risked their lives and continued providing the services so that other people can stay safe in their homes.

On 4th September 2019, on behalf of our Charity, Director Sonia Thapa received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services (QAVS), the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK. The ceremony was held at 33 Holborn and on behalf the Queen, Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, Lord Lieutenant of Greater London handed over the awards to the winners.
