Home Instead Durham is getting behind The Big Knit and would like individuals or community groups to help us raise funds by knitting tiny hats.
We can supply all the patterns and we will be happy to collect any hats later in the year.
The Big Knit is a joint campaign between Age UK and innocent drinks to help vulnerable older people. You knit the hats, innocent drinks wear them, and 25p of every drink sold wearing a hat goes to Age UK.
The Big Knit campaign in 2012 raised over £115,000 for Age UK’s “Spread the Warmth campaign, which helps keep older people warm during winter.
If you missed the chance to get involved in 2012 - don't worry! The Big Knit is back and will be bigger than ever in 2013 with your help
As many as 25,000 older people may die needlessly during winter because of the cold in England and Wales. Spread the Warmth is Age UK's campaign to prevent these deaths.
In addition to raising much-needed funds for the Spread the Warmth campaign, the Big Knit is a great way to bring people and communities together.
'The Big Knit campaign couldn't happen without the support of thousands of amazing people across the UK who take part and knit woolly hats to adorn innocent smoothies each year.
Could you be one of those amazing knitters this year? Whether you knit 1 or a 101 all will be gratefully received.
If you can help, or know of someone else or a group who might be able to, please contact the office on 0191 374 4041, we would love to hear from you.
