Durham Cathedral become dementia friendly

Hundreds of staff and volunteers at Durham Cathedral have taken steps to make the world heritage historic landmark dementia-friendly.

Dementia Friends is an initiative that aims to provide people with an understanding of dementia and the small things they can do that can make a difference to people living with the disease.

This is great news for Durham; a lot of our clients enjoy visiting the Cathedral with their CAREGiver, either for the tranquility it provides or for a morning coffee or lunch.

Dementia Friends was launched in February 2013 by Alzheimer’s Society. It aims to help people understand what it might be like to live with dementia and turn that understanding into action.

For more information call Trudi, Owner of Home Instead in Durham, who is a dementia champion and can offer sessions to the local community.
