Home Instead Dartford & Bexley Launches Dementia Experience Hub

We are thrilled to announce the official launch of our new Dementia Experience Hub!

November 19th marked a huge milestone for us as the Hub was officially opened by Andrew Sayers, Local Service Manager for Bexley Dementia Service at the Alzheimer’s Society. We were honoured that Andrew, two of his colleagues, and our local Councillor Nicola Taylor (Shadow Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health) took the opportunity to be among the very first to experience it.

What is the Dementia Experience Hub?

The Hub is a powerful, immersive experience designed to put participants directly into the shoes of a person living with dementia, focusing specifically on the sensory challenges they face every day. It’s a truly eye-opening simulation that illustrates how basic daily activities we take for granted become incredibly difficult.

The reaction from our guests was immediate and profound. Councillor Nicola Taylor reflected on the session:

”Really interesting to experience how people with dementia are impacted and how it affects your ability to do things that we do every day and take for granted. Such a valuable experience for everyone so we can have more empathy and understanding of people with this disease.”

Why We Built This

With nearly one million people (982,000) diagnosed with dementia in the UK, the need for deep, meaningful understanding is critical.

For our Co-Owner, Christina, the Hub is a fulfilment of a long-held vision:

”We are very pleased to be able to provide something so meaningful to the community. We always wanted our training room to be more than just a training place for our team members and now it is a place where others can come and experience and learn meaningful knowledge around dementia.”

Crucially, the Hub is completely free to the public (by appointment). We believe that knowledge and empathy should be accessible to all, a sentiment echoed by Co-Owner Ram:

”I am proud to be able to offer something like this hub in our local area where people can come and experience it without worrying about the cost.”

A huge thank you and congratulations to Christina and Ram for putting this incredible resource together!

Join the Movement for Understanding

The Dementia Experience Hub is now open for public bookings (appointment only). This unique resource is an extension of our community efforts, which include free workshops on Dementia Awareness, CPR, and Scam Awareness (attended by over 3,700 people!) plus our two music groups and the St John’s Silver Birch Lunch.
