Growing old can bring challenges, both for the person who’s ageing and for their family. It can be frustrating for our loved ones because they can’t do everything they used to and feel like they’re losing their independence. At the same time, it might be worrying for their family as they might not be able to be there whenever their loved ones need them.

As we head into the festive season, we know this isn’t going to be the usual Christmas that we are used to. However, this festive period will bring with it a sense of hope for the future as we edge closer to a vaccine and hopefully some form of normality and being able to see our family and loved ones again. We at Home Instead Senior Care Cuffley, Cheshunt & Harlow wanted to take this opportunity to let you know about some activities and tips to help combat a sense of loneliness in the lead up to Christmas.
This year we have partnered up with Tesco Superstore near High Street Potters Bar by hosting a stand at the entrance of the store and asking shoppers to buy a little something extra along with their weekly shop, and then dropping it off to our stand in exchange for a mince pie. We will be distributing the gifts to elderly patients who face Christmas in a ward at Barnet General Hospital.
Millions of families with loved ones are affected by dementia. You might be wondering how to respond to the behaviours and situations caused by dementia. Here at Home Instead Senior Care, we have years of experience caring for elderly people with dementia, and can help answer your questions.
