Home Instead first homecare provider in Gloucestershire to be rated Outstanding by CQC

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Home Instead, Cheltenham + Cotswolds, has been rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), following its inspection earlier this year.

Home Instead is the first provider of care in the home to be rated Outstanding in Gloucestershire and one of only a small number (1%) across the country to achieve this - the highest rating possible.

To reach its decision about our service, the CQC looked at five key areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. Inspectors talked to the people we support at home, our CAREGivers and others in the local community to find out how well we meet the ‘mum test’.

Owner of Home Instead Amanda Hamer said: "My aim has always been for Home Instead to provide care which is good enough for my own mum, and which puts those that we support at the heart of everything we do. Our latest CQC rating is a wonderful endorsement of the care, compassion and commitment to high quality care which is shared by everyone in the company and I am incredibly proud of our CAREGivers out in the community and our office support team who go the extra mile every day".

There are just over eight and a half thousand care at home providers which are registered with the CQC and to date only fifty-three of these have achieved an Outstanding rating since the new inspection regime was introduced in 2014.

Deborah Ivanova, Deputy Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care at the Care Quality Commission when commenting on our inspection said: “I am struck by the extent to which the service goes that extra mile and places people at the centre of everything it does.

“What really impressed me from reading the inspection report and speaking with those involved in the inspection was the level of personalised support that people received, from staff who had the right skills and who treated them with kindness, compassion and dignity. For people using its services in their last days this homecare service worked above and beyond to ensure peoples’ wishes were met. Reading this I found it incredibly moving”.

This is an amazing achievement for us, however it would not have been possible without the close contact and partnership working we enjoy with so many local organisations. Thank you to everyone for the helping us to provide Outstanding care in Gloucestershire!
