August is Happiness Happens Month!

Appreciation, happiness and positivity is easy to 'talk about', but would you agree talking about it is a lot easier than putting it into practice?

We all get down days and sometimes it's hard to understand why and to pick ourselves back up. Taking the time to relax and appreciate what you have is really important to be able to build on your own happiness and positivity.

Below are a few tips to help make happiness happen:

Surround yourself with positive people. Friends and family are there to support you, not drag you down. These people will help you to appreciate the small things and make memories to keep you smiling throughout life. When was the last time you spent time with friends and had a good belly laugh?

It's easy to forget how powerful music can be, it can change and influence your perspective of life and help change your mood. So take some time out to listen to what makes you smile! Write a list of what you are thankful for, remembering that it is important to focus on what is already in your life bringing you happiness. It is easy to start looking for what you feel is missing in life, to put that smile back on your face. Reflect on the good times with friends and family, the holidays you’ve been on and the animals that have played a special part in your life. The list will be very diverse for everybody, as we all appreciate different things, more so than others.

The point is, we all face different challenges in life, but one of the most rewarding challenges we should all step up to is finding happiness in what we already have.

And while we’re all tackling life’s challenges: be kind - you never quite know what someone is going through. Being kind is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.
