Home Instead Cheltenham and Cotswolds was founded by Amanda Hamer in 2011 as part of the national Home Instead family. We provide sensitive and professional care in the comfort of your own home. We will travel to your home to understand the specifics of your care needs. From regular home help to personal care or Dementia care, every person’s need is different and therefore the care we provide is specific and tailored to each individual. Home Instead was born out of our founders’ own experience of needing care for a loved one; therefore we understand the real importance of care to enhancing life.

Preventing loneliness in older people

Companionship. How often do we overlook the benefits of being amongst the company of friends and family so that we do not feel alone? Did you know that companionship care as a service is available to help combat loneliness? Home care companies often get confused for being care homes and understanding what services a home care company can provide is key to allowing people to stay living independently in their own home. Our aim at Home Instead Cheltenham is to make those later years as comfortable, stimulating, and enjoyable as they can be. Watch our TV advert called The Third Stair, you may need some tissues in case your eyes leak!

Can you appreciate how lonely it can be for an older person to live on their own? They may have recently lost a loved one and could be experiencing grief as well as adapting to life without them. If they don't have family or friends that live close by, the chances are they will be on their own for most of the day. Having little to no interaction with another human being. ‘What is your purpose in life?’ It is so easy to forget that when you get older, you still need a purpose to get up in the mornings, to keep smiling and keep fit and healthy. Being able to talk to someone and spend time with people you love and trust is a key element in an older persons purpose in life.

Our companionship service can be as simple as giving you a hand with the weekly shop, accompanying you to a Doctor’s appointment or taking you out for lunch! Having home care doesn’t mean you are confined to your own home when enjoying the company of our CAREGivers. An hour a day could be all it takes for someone's spirits to be lifted and give them something to look forward to. A simple cup of tea and chat with a friendly face is just one of the ways our CAREGivers can improve an older persons life.

Home care can include home help and light housekeeping! Do you need any help taking out the bins, dusting, hoovering, de-cluttering, feeding the cat or even washing and ironing? It covers all aspects of housekeeping to help you to live well in your home environment so that it remains clean, tidy and safe. Because our CAREGivers are matched to you, they will take time to get to know how you like to keep your house and make it a happy place for you to live. Freeing up valuable time and energy, so you can focus on doing the things you want to do and enjoy.

The idea of receiving personal care can be quite a daunting prospect. You might have thoughts around feeling uncomfortable not knowing the person who is going to be helping you in those intimate moments. Is it going to be a different person each time? We understand that personal care can be sensitive to each individual. That’s why our professional CAREGivers are discreet and take time to build a close rapport with our clients to make sure it is a more individual and personal experience. We pride ourselves on our continuity of our CAREGivers that we match to you, so that you feel safe and comfortable knowing the CAREGivers who are assisting you.

We choose our CAREGivers for their empathy, compassion and reliability and we also look at their particular interests so that we can carefully match our clients and CAREGivers one to one. We are uncompromising in our insistence on six references for each CAREGiver who joins our team and all are fully trained by Home Instead to ensure they have the specific skills and approach we require. Our CAREGivers don't wear a uniform or have marked cars, this is for our Client's safety and peace of mind.

Other services available to you are: Live in care, home from hospital recovery, palliative care, specialised care including Dementia and Motor Neurone Disease, home independence, home support, caring technology.
