Home Instead Charnwood support local community Thurmaston fete with all proceeds to Dementia UK

The sun was shining and the Home Instead Charnwood team put up a gazebo and stand (ok they needed a little bit of help with that bit) to get the message out into the local community about Dementia and to raise money and awareness to support the charity Dementia UK. So many people in our elderly community are suffering with this condition and since it is something that the Charnwood CareGiving team support daily the team are determined to continue to support the on-going research carried out by charity Dementia UK.

Since sunshine was on their side this weekend, Thurmaston’s local leisure, sports and community centre was the place to be – Elizabeth Park Thurmaston . The team had an enormous bear to give away for ‘guess the name of the bear’ – which happened to be called ‘Charnwood’ for all those wondering and thought Betty or Fred might have been his name! Richard James (Hayley’s husband) dutifully engaged passers-by to throw the hoop over the winning peg – and gave away his weight in Haribo sweets - the public seemed to be very skilled in Thurmaston hat day!

Phoebe (Charlotte’s daughter) sold her cupcake wares to the hungry passes by at a great contribution to the Dementia UK charity, play your cards right and other games entertained the Thurmaston locals whilst the team was joined by several of the youngest Home Instead ‘office’ team who seemed to enjoy bouncing on the bouncy castle more than anything else!

Over £100 was raised for this charity and many people asked for support and guidance for loved ones they knew suffering with Dementia so the team felt proud of what had been achieved. Thank you to all of you that participated and donated to the cause – all donations have been gratefully received by the charity.
