Home Instead were delighted to recently attend the “Dementia Friendly Cardiff Festival” at Llanover Hall, in Cardiff.

A wide variety of organisations committed to supporting people living with dementia and their carers attended including: The Alzheimer’s Society, Age Cymru, Cardiff Wellbeing Support Service and Solace. All the attendees shared Home Instead’s aim of helping people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias to lead happy and fulfilled lives.

Phil Batchelor, Home Instead’s Managing Director:

“We know that a diagnosis of dementia can be a devastating blow to families, but with the right support it is often possible to enjoy a good quality of life for many years. In particular it was excellent that many of those attending were focussed on supporting family carers, who can find caring for a loved one a challenging experience. Our Home Care Service in Cardiff, Penarth and Barry can provide respite support, expert dementia care, help around the home and encourage good nutrition. We support the whole family unit, not just the person living with dementia, and are proud to have helped hundreds of local people lead independent and happy lives in their own homes.

We had a lovely day meeting lots of new people and talking about how important a Dementia Friendly community can be for those living with dementia, in all areas in Cardiff.
