We know that recovery doesn’t stop once you leave the hospital. Whether it’s for a few days or several weeks, having the right support at home can make all the difference. At Home Instead Bromley, our post-operative care is flexible and shaped around your recovery needs, however straightforward or complex they may be. Our Care Professionals receive City & Guild training to help with personal care, mobility, meal preparation, or simply being there to offer reassurance during this transition period. We’re also equipped to provide regular check-ins to monitor their progress, keeping the family updated on any changes. Most importantly, we help reduce the risk of re-admission, so recovery can continue safely where they’re most comfortable.
We offer two types of home care: hourly care, where we visit at set times, or live-in care, where a carer resides in the home. Both are overseen by our care management team and delivered by compassionate Care Professionals. Each care package is made up of of a unique mix services to meet your needs.

Recovery at home looks different for everyone, which is why we tailor our support to the individual, both in what we do and how we do it. One family reached out to us after their mother was discharged from the Princess Royal Hospital. Following surgery, she was unable to get out of bed and needed help with personal care. We matched her with a Care Professional who shared her love of gardening, which helped build trust and made those early visits feel more natural. With ongoing support, she regained her strength and mobility and is now able to walk to the bathroom and manage her morning routine on her own again.

At Home Instead Bromley, our care professionals and office team share a commitment to improving the quality of life for older adults across the borough. Many of us have cared for loved ones ourselves, so we understand the challenges that come with recovery and the value of the right support. That experience shapes the personal touch we bring to every visit. In 2023, we were recognised as a Top 20 Home Care Provider in Greater London by homecare.co.uk, and one of our Care Professionals was awarded Highly Commended at the Great British Care Awards Greater London in the Home Care Worker category. These achievements reflect the trust families place in us, and the care we bring to every recovery journey.
Recovering at home shouldn’t mean missing out on all the goings-on in the community, and we’ve seen that social connections can be a valuable part of staying well. That’s why we support our clients in reconnecting with the activities they enjoy as they regain strength and confidence. We often accompany clients to the Shirley Baptist Church lunch club, where they can socialise over a hot meal and games. For those recovering after memory-related hospital stays, we also support visits to the Memory Box Café in West Wickham where music and stories spark memories and conversations. As mobility improves, we ensure your loved ones can return to their usual outings, always at their own pace and on their own terms.

Whether your illness or injury meant you were in hospital or could stay in your own home, it can leave many people feeling drained. It is important that you don’t rush back into doing as much as you did beforehand. Extra help around the house with daily tasks can remove pressure and allow you time to recover.
Many people find that they benefit from care in their own home, allowing them to recover in a familiar environment rather than having to adjust to new surroundings.
Rehabilitation care is often only needed for a short period of time after illness or injury. If your needs change at any time, Home Instead will be there at every stage working with your clinical team to provide as much help as you need.
Similar to rehabilitation and recuperation care, reablement care is an invaluable step in getting your loved one out of hospital and back to living independently, and is better delivered at home for best results.
