Parkinson’s affects the individual in different ways, which is why we focus on what’s possible, not just what’s needed. Our Parkinson’s care is built around each of our clients’ goals, whether that’s feeling more confident at home or staying active in the community. For example, one of our clients came to us needing two people to support him with a hoist for transfers to appointments at Chelsfield Park Hospital. Over time, and with regular encouragement and mobility-focused care from his Care Professional, he’s made real progress. He now transfers with the help of one person and walks using a frame, something that’s restored both his independence and quality of life.

Supporting someone with Parkinson’s takes more than just experience, it takes a team that understands how the condition can change from day to day. At Home Instead Bromley, our Care Professionals are specially trained to notice the small changes and respond with care that’s calm, empathetic, and respectful. That’s why we’re proud that our commitment has been recognised close to home. Our owner, Karina Brown, received the inaugural Diane Smith Award for Adult Care in Bromley in 2023, followed by our Care Manager, Sarah Larden, in 2024, making us the only home care provider in the borough to win it twice. These honours reflect the dedication we bring to every family we support at any stage of their home care journey.
Living well with Parkinson’s isn’t just about managing symptoms; it’s also continuing to do the things we’ve always loved. That’s why we support our clients in taking part in local activities that combine their interests with movement and social connection, which can help manage their condition. Gill Pratt, a valued member of our team, leads regular Love to Move sessions. We also sponsor a weekly community fitness class through Prime Time at St. Nicolas Church and often accompany clients to and from the group, so they feel safe and supported while taking part. These outings are more than just time out of the house; they help bring a sense of routine, encourage independence, and remind your loved ones that there’s still so much to enjoy.
