Ford Ride London Essex 2023

May 26th-May 28th 2023 will see the return of the hugely successful Ford London-Essex festival of cycling race through some of our Braintree villages and rolling countryside.

After a successful event in 2022 following a 2 year gap, the hugely popular Ford Ride London-Essex returns to Braintree, Chelmsford and Colchester for 2023.  The UCI World Womens Tour will hurtle through our roads in stage 1 and 2 of their elite race on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th.

The professional race or ‘The Classique’ will feature some of the world’s greatest women riders. Stage 1, on Friday 26th May will pass through our territory’s picturesque villages of Weathersfield, Sible Hedingham, Halstead, Earls Colne, Bures and Nayland. Locals can tell you that the 120 elite riders will be challenged by the contours and bends of some our charming country roads.

Although we may have to get up early to get a place it will be thrilling to witness this fast paced spectacle of sportsmanship.

For some of the best viewing spots we would recommend Hedingham Castle, a wonderfully preserved Norman keep, St Andrews Church Earls Colne or somewhere along the banks of the River Colne in Halstead.

The Ride London-Essex 30, 60 and 100 held on Sunday 28th May

On Sunday 28th May we can cheer on the enthusiastic amateurs in the mass participation bike ride on traffic free roads

Over 25000 people will take part from enthusiastic amateurs looking for a personal best and determined charity fundraisers breaking through personal barriers to raise money.

538 charities are set to benefit from the efforts of the riders this year and many Essex initiatives that inspire activity amongst seniors will benefit from grants from the London Marathon Foundation.  The Active Essex Foundation @AE_Foundation will be well represented and hope to raise money to maintain the classes and resourses they provide to promote strength and balance for our aging clients. So important towards preventing falls.

We are so delighted that The Alzheimer’s Society are the charity of the year for the Ride London Essex 100. We’ll definitely find a spot to cheer them on
